In the early morning hours of June 25, 2016, the life of 57-year-old Marilyn Thompson was tragically cut short on the streets of Paterson, New Jersey. A Black/African American female, Thompson was discovered at the corner of Auburn Street and Hamilton Avenue around 4 a.m. with a gunshot wound to her head. Responding to reports of shots fired, police found her critically injured. She was rushed to St.
Joseph's Regional Medical Center, but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
Marilyn, a mother of three daughters, was a lifelong resident of Paterson. She was educated in the Paterson Public Schools system, graduating from Eastside High School where she was a member of the track team and the color guard. Described as a loving and compassionate individual who cherished her family, she had worked in customer service and as a driver. Her death left behind her daughters, grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office is leading the investigation into her homicide. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for her death. Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murder of Marilyn Thompson. The case remains unsolved, leaving a grieving family and community searching for answers and justice.
