On a cold December night in Paterson, New Jersey, the life of 27-year-old Nijatolle Simms was tragically cut short. On December 28, 2015, Simms, a Black female, was inside Andy's Liquors and Bar on North 7th Street, a local spot she was known to frequent. Around 11:15 p.m., the ordinary evening turned into a scene of violence when a gunman entered the establishment and began shooting.
