In the early hours of a late August morning in 2016, the life of 20-year-old Genico Robinson was tragically cut short in Paterson, New Jersey. On Saturday, August 27th, at approximately 1:53 a.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the night on North Main Street. When police arrived, they found Robinson near 88 North Main Street with two gunshot wounds.
Emergency services transported him to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office immediately launched a homicide investigation into the shooting, which marked the 11th homicide in Paterson that year. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, authorities had not made any arrests and had not publicly identified any suspects. The investigation into the death of Genico Robinson remains open. A reward was offered for information that could lead to an arrest and conviction in his case, as well as two other homicides that occurred around the same time.
To date, there has been no public announcement of any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the murder of Genico Robinson. The case is one of several unsolved homicides in Paterson, leaving his family and the community still seeking answers and justice for a young life taken too soon.
