In the late hours of a Saturday night in Paterson, New Jersey, the sound of gunfire shattered the summer calm. It was July 25, 2020, when 42-year-old James Timmons, a male resident of the city, was fatally shot. Police on patrol in the area of Rosa Parks Boulevard heard the gunshots at approximately 10:45 p.m. and rushed to the scene.
