In the late hours of a cold Tuesday night, the city of Pleasantville was shaken by a burst of violence that claimed the life of Ruben Reyes, a 28-year-old man from the neighboring community of Atlantic City. On January 10, 2017, police responded to reports of gunfire and discovered Reyes suffering from gunshot wounds at the intersection of Leeds Avenue and North Main Street. Despite the immediate response, his injuries proved fatal, marking the first homicide of the year in the city.
