In the early morning hours of February 2, 2017, the life of a beloved local entertainer from Newark, New Jersey, was tragically cut short. Isaac D. Brown, a 40-year-old Black male affectionately known in his community as 'Sir Isaac' and 'The Karaoke King,' was fatally shot in the vicinity of 60 Norwood Avenue. The incident occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m., and he was pronounced dead at the scene less than twenty minutes later.
His sudden and violent death sent ripples of shock and grief through the community that had come to know and love his performances.
Isaac Brown was a well-known figure in Essex County, having entertained thousands with his karaoke performances. His passing left a significant void in the local arts scene and in the hearts of his family and friends. At the time of his death, he was the father of a newborn baby girl, who was just one month old.
