On a late Friday night in June of 2017, the life of 35-year-old Alejandro Brooks, a Black/African American man, was tragically cut short on the streets of Camden, New Jersey. It was around 11:30 p.m. on June 23rd when the sound of gunfire shattered the night near the intersection of Beideman Avenue and River Road. Responding officers arrived to a grim scene, finding Brooks lying on the pavement with multiple gunshot wounds.
