On a late Friday night in June of 2017, the life of 35-year-old Alejandro Brooks, a Black/African American man, was tragically cut short on the streets of Camden, New Jersey. It was around 11:30 p.m. on June 23rd when the sound of gunfire shattered the night near the intersection of Beideman Avenue and River Road. Responding officers arrived to a grim scene, finding Brooks lying on the pavement with multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel quickly transported him to Cooper
University Hospital, where medical staff fought to save his life. Despite their efforts, Alejandro Brooks succumbed to his injuries a short time after arriving at the hospital. The Camden County Prosecutor's Office, in conjunction with local police, immediately launched a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting.
In the initial stages of the investigation, details were scarce. Authorities worked to piece together the events leading up to the shooting and to identify a motive. However, the case proved to be challenging, with no immediate suspects or clear reasons for the violent act. As time passed, the investigation remained active, with law enforcement appealing to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Alejandro Brooks, leaving his family and friends still searching for answers and justice.
