On the evening of May 17, 2024, in Camden, New Jersey, 18-year-old Na’Quan A McCray was the victim of a fatal shooting. The incident that claimed his life took place at Point Street Park, located at the intersection of Point and York Streets. Suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, McCray was transported by a private vehicle to Cooper University Hospital.
Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead approximately 90 minutes after his arrival at the hospital.
The death of Na’Quan McCray was one of two separate fatal shootings that occurred in Camden on the same day, prompting investigations by the Camden County Prosecutor's Office and the Camden County Police Department. Law enforcement officials have indicated that the investigation into McCray's death is both active and ongoing. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and have provided contact numbers for the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Camden County Police Department.
