On a summer evening in Trenton, New Jersey, the life of Jermaine Austin, a 37-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short. On July 31, 2017, at approximately 10:05 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of 1158 East State Street. Upon their arrival, they discovered Austin lying on the sidewalk, unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
