In the early hours of a Tuesday in August 2017, the life of 22-year-old Tyiere Parks was tragically cut short on the streets of Newark, New Jersey. At approximately 12:14 a.m. on August 15th, gunfire erupted in the 800 block of Clinton Avenue, near the intersection of Fabyan Place. When the sound of the shots faded, Parks was left with a fatal wound.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and rushed the young man to University Hospital.
Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Tyiere Parks was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, in conjunction with detectives from the Newark Police Department, immediately launched an investigation into the fatal shooting.
In the initial stages of the investigation, authorities reached out to the public for any information that could lead to the individuals responsible for this act of violence. However, the trail for investigators appeared to grow cold. In the years that have followed, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made in connection with the murder of Tyiere Parks. No suspects have been officially named, leaving a case that is, as of now, unresolved. The community was left to mourn the loss of a young life, with the questions surrounding his death still unanswered.
