In the city of Newark, New Jersey, a young life was cut short on a late winter's day. Shawn Hall, a 19-year-old Black male, became a victim of the street violence that has too often plagued the city's neighborhoods. On March 11, 2012, in the 100 block of Elizabeth Avenue, the sound of gunfire shattered the daily rhythm of life, and when the chaos subsided, Hall was left fatally wounded.
