On the evening of October 23, 2017, a burst of gunfire shattered the night on Myrtle Avenue in Irvington, New Jersey, leaving a man fatally wounded. The victim was identified as Israel L. Washington, a 45-year-old male from the neighboring city of Newark. The shooting occurred at approximately 8:37 p.m. in front of a residence at 440 Myrtle Avenue.
