On a summer evening in Newark, New Jersey, the life of Wendell D. Lee was tragically cut short. On Monday, July 9, 2018, the 40-year-old man was in the 100 block of Boyd Street when he was shot at approximately 6:00 p.m. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and quickly transported him to University Hospital in the hopes of saving his life. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at 6:37 p.m.
