On the evening of November 15, 2018, Sunil Edla, a 61-year-old Indian-origin man, was preparing to leave his home in Ventnor City, New Jersey, for his overnight shift as a night auditor in Atlantic City. After starting his car, he briefly went back inside his residence. As he returned and walked down the stairs of his second-floor apartment, he was ambushed and shot multiple times on the sidewalk.
