On the evening of October 16, 2022, a young man named Emmanuelle Florestal was shot and killed in Union, New Jersey. The 22-year-old male was discovered by Union Police Officers at approximately 6:39 p.m. in the area of Hendricks Drive, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to University Hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced dead.
Florestal was a resident of Irvington.
The investigation that followed was a collaborative effort involving several law enforcement agencies, including the Union County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force and the Union Township Police Department, with assistance from the Union County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit, Union County Police Ballistics, the United States Marshals Service, and the New York City Police Department. Through their joint investigation, two suspects were identified as the alleged perpetrators of the fatal shooting.
In March of 2023, two 19-year-old men were arrested and charged with the murder of Emmanuelle Florestal. The first suspect, Ducarmel H. Georges of Brooklyn, New York, was apprehended in Brooklyn by the United States Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force on March 20. The second suspect, Ahmad Conde of Elizabeth, New Jersey, remained a fugitive for a short time before he was arrested on March 28. Both men are facing charges of first-degree murder and weapons offenses. If convicted, they could be sentenced to life in state prison.
