On the evening of April 11, 2026, a tragic event unfolded at a Chick-fil-A on Route 22 in Union, New Jersey, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Malek Shepherd of New York City. The restaurant, crowded with patrons, became a scene of chaos at approximately 9 p.m. when gunfire erupted. Union Police Department officers responded to reports of the shooting and discovered seven individuals had been struck by bullets.
