In the early morning hours of Saturday, March 16, 2019, the life of 27-year-old RaSean McCormick, a male resident of Camden, New Jersey, was tragically cut short by gunfire. The fatal shooting occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. inside what authorities described as a 'residential speakeasy' operating out of a home on the 600 block of Ferry Avenue in Camden.
When Camden County Police arrived at the scene after hearing gunshots, they encountered a chaotic scene with people fleeing the residence.
Inside the home, officers discovered four individuals who had been shot. All four victims were rushed to Cooper University Hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, RaSean McCormick was pronounced deceased at approximately 4:30 a.m. The other three victims, identified only as a 35-year-old man, a 24-year-old man, and a 25-year-old woman, all residents of Camden, were treated for their injuries.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, there were conflicting reports regarding the status of the investigation. One news report on the day of the incident stated that an arrest had been made in connection with the fatal shooting. However, a subsequent report two days later, on March 18, 2019, indicated that no arrests had been made and that the investigation by the Camden County Prosecutor's Office and the Camden County Police Department was ongoing. Authorities at that time appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for the violence that claimed the life of RaSean McCormick and injured three others. There have been no subsequent public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the years following the incident.
