In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Newark, New Jersey, the life of 32-year-old Nathaniel Mickens was tragically cut short. On April 28, 2019, shortly after 2:30 a.m., police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of the 400 block of 7th Avenue. Arriving at the intersection of 7th Avenue and North 12th Street, officers discovered Mickens unresponsive inside a vehicle. He had sustained apparent gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:37 a.m.
