On a summer evening in Newark, New Jersey, the life of Lamar Rutherford, a 31-year-old male from Irvington, was cut short by gunfire. On Sunday, August 2, 2020, at approximately 6:36 p.m., Rutherford was shot in the area of 175 14th Avenue. Despite the prompt response of law enforcement, he was pronounced dead at the scene less than twenty minutes later, at 6:54 p.m.
