On a grim evening in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the life of 29-year-old Champsey Bailey was cut short. On October 28, 2019, shortly after 7 p.m., the sound of gunfire echoed in the vicinity of Ohio and Hummock Avenues. When police responded to a ShotSpotter alert, they discovered Bailey had been shot. He was a male resident of Atlantic City.
Rushed to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus, Bailey was pronounced dead, marking the second fatal shooting in the city within a
span of just 11 days. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit immediately launched an investigation into the homicide.
Despite their efforts, details regarding a motive for the shooting have not been made public. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with Champsey Bailey's death, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The case remains an active and open investigation as authorities continue to seek information from the public to bring those responsible to justice.
