In the fall of 2020, a gathering in an apartment on Lincoln Street in East Orange, New Jersey, took a tragic and violent turn, ending the life of 22-year-old Daimeir Nelson. On the evening of October 27, 2020, Nelson was attending a party when another attendee, 34-year-old Jashon Allen, was ejected from the residence. In a senseless act of violence, Allen returned to the apartment and, when the door was reopened, he fired a gun into the doorway, fatally striking Nelson in the chest.
