Roy Banks, a 46-year-old African American man from Detroit, Michigan, tragically lost his life during the 1967 Detroit Uprising. On July 25, 1967, Banks was shot by National Guardsmen while he was walking to catch the 4:30 am bus to his factory job. Banks, who had been deaf since childhood, was unarmed and posed no threat. Despite this, the Guardsmen opened fire on him without cause.
