Carl Carrington Mounts Jr., aged 27, was one of the eight victims of the Hazelwood massacre, a tragic event that took place on June 14, 1971, in Detroit, Michigan. The massacre occurred at a house located at 1970 Hazelwood Street, near 12th Street, which had been a focal point of the 1967 Detroit riot^1^. The victims, including Mounts, were all African-American and were shot in the living room of the apartment. The massacre is considered the largest mass murder in Detroit's history^1^.
