On a cold November night in Detroit, the life of a 27-year-old aspiring rapper named Steven McWilliams-Dix, known to many as Stewy Bando, was tragically cut short. On November 27, 2022, McWilliams-Dix was at the Truth Gentlemen's Club on 8 Mile Road with friends when an ongoing feud with another man reportedly reignited. The altercation spilled outside, where the male shooter fired several rounds, striking and killing him.
The sudden violence left his family heartbroken and seeking
answers. His sister remembered him as a loving family man, deeply involved in the lives of his more than 50 nieces and nephews. She expressed her grief and disbelief that he could be taken from them in such a senseless act. In the wake of the shooting, she spoke of the immense pain their family was enduring and the many hearts that were broken by his death.
In the immediate aftermath, the Detroit Police Department launched an active and open investigation into the homicide. Detectives were said to be utilizing surveillance video from both inside and outside the gentlemen's club to aid in their search for the person responsible.
