In a heroic act on June 16, 1977, Police Officer Mac J. Donnelly, Jr., a 35-year-old White / Caucasian male, lost his life in Lansing, Michigan. A nine-year veteran of the Lansing Police Department and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, Officer Donnelly was fatally shot while intervening in a bank robbery and hostage situation.
