On the afternoon of July 30, 2004, a 40-year-old man named John Edward Fleshman walked away from his home in Dayton, Washington, an area just outside of Shelton, and was never heard from again. He told those at his residence that he was simply going for a walk, a casual departure that gave no hint of the mystery that would follow. At the time he was last seen, he was reportedly wearing blue jeans and black boots. His failure to return home that day marked the beginning of a long and painful period of uncertainty for his loved ones and the community. In the wake of his disappearance, a significant and extensive search operation was launched by the Mason County Sheriff's Office. The effort to find John was immense, covering a 50-square-mile area surrounding his home. The search involved over 200 volunteers, who combed the region tirelessly. Specialized units, including a helicopter from the King County Sheriff's Office and canine teams from Pierce County, joined local search and rescue teams from Kitsap, Thurston, and Mason counties. Despite these exhaustive efforts, the search yielded no clues as to John's whereabouts or what might have happened to him after he left for his walk. John Edward Fleshman is described as a white male with brown hair and blue eyes, standing at 5'8" and weighing around 170 pounds at the time he went missing. He has several distinct tattoos, located on his head, arm, and both elbows, as well as scars on his forehead and left hand. It is also noted that he may have used the last name Dillon or the alias Edward A. Guerrero. The investigation into his disappearance has remained open over the years, with the Mason County Sheriff's Office continuing to follow up on any leads that emerge. However, without any significant breakthroughs, the case of what happened to John Edward Fleshman remains an unsolved and troubling mystery.
