Barbara Jo Tessman, a 45-year-old Caucasian female, passed away on February 6, 2006, in a tragic incident at her home in Washington Township, Michigan. Born on October 7, 1960, in Owosso, Michigan, she had spent most of her life in the Ashley area and was a graduate of Ovid-Elsie Schools. For the seven years leading up to her death, Barbara was an employee at Hehr International in Chesaning.
She was a mother to four children and a grandmother to five, known for her love of reading, gardening, and camping with her family.
The circumstances of her death were violent and devastating. Barbara was shot by her husband, Danny Tessman Sr., who then used the firearm on himself in what was determined to be a murder-suicide. The couple's teenage son was reportedly in the home at the time of the fatal events. This act of domestic violence cut short the life of a woman remembered fondly by her loved ones.
Due to the nature of the incident, with the sole suspect deceased at the scene, there were no further arrests made in connection with Barbara's death.
