Latricia Green Brown, a 40-year-old female employee at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, was tragically shot and killed at her workplace on the morning of Friday, August 22, 2025. The incident unfolded in the basement of the hospital, where she was confronted by her ex-husband, 53-year-old Mario Dewayne Green. Following a verbal altercation, Mario Green produced a handgun and fired multiple shots at his ex-wife, fatally wounding her.
The cause of her death was determined to be a close-range gunshot wound.
Security footage captured Mario Green leaving the hospital at approximately 9:55 a.m. in a white 2011 Dodge Charger. This triggered a day-long manhunt by the Detroit Police Department. His vehicle was later found abandoned in a Detroit neighborhood on the same day. In the early hours of August 23, around 3 a.m., authorities located and arrested Mario Green on Detroit's east side.
The investigation revealed a history of domestic turmoil. Latricia had sought legal protection from her ex-husband, whom she had divorced in 2018, on at least two occasions. She had filed for a personal protection order in June, which was denied. She filed a second request on July 20, detailing escalating harassment, including allegations that he had broken into her car, destroyed her belongings, and stalked her. While this second order was granted, it was never served to Mario Green before the fatal shooting.
Mario Green has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder, discharge of a firearm in a building causing death, aggravated stalking, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and four counts of felony firearm. He was arraigned and remanded to jail. A second man, 54-year-old Anthony Lee-Lamont Barnett, was also arrested and charged in connection with the crime. Barnett faces charges of being an accessory after the fact and lying to a police officer for allegedly assisting Mario Green in fleeing the hospital after the shooting. Both men are scheduled to appear in court for a probable cause conference.
