On December 21, 2006, in a home on Dean Street on the east side of Detroit, a tragic series of events unfolded, culminating in the deaths of 22-year-old Rachel Johnson and her mother, Nelda Grant. The young woman, a student at Macomb County Community College, was discovered in a pool of blood by her mother shortly after midnight. Nelda Grant's subsequent call to 911 was abruptly cut short, and she too was fatally shot.
