On the morning of March 26, 2014, a violent confrontation erupted at a residence on Talbot Street near the border of Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan. The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. at a home located between Conant Street and Mound Road. According to investigators, an argument began between two men inside the house and two men who were standing outside. The dispute quickly escalated when weapons were drawn, and a barrage of gunfire was exchanged between the parties.
During the shootout, 34-year-old Khaili Fadel, who was identified as the individual killed in the exchange, sustained fatal injuries. Another man involved in the incident was critically wounded and subsequently transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment. The two men who had been outside the home reportedly fled the scene immediately after the shooting ceased. Investigators arriving at the location found numerous evidence markers, indicating a chaotic scene with multiple shots fired.
The gunfire also endangered nearby residents, with stray bullets striking a townhouse across the street. One bullet pierced the window of an upstairs bedroom where a four-year-old child was sleeping, embedding itself in the wall just feet away from the boy. The child's father, who was awakened by the sound of the shots, discovered the damage and immediately moved his son to safety on the floor.
Police launched an investigation into the homicide, searching for the two suspects who had fled. At the time of the incident, authorities did not have a detailed description of the suspects, noting only that they left the area right after the shooting. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives joined local Detroit police in the effort to locate the individuals responsible, but no immediate arrests were reported in the aftermath of the violence.
