In the spring of 1987, a young Native American woman named Christine Lester, 24 years of age, vanished from her home in Indian Wells, Arizona. On the morning of May 5th, she informed her family of her plans to travel to the Flagstaff Mall to purchase Mother's Day gifts. It was common practice to hitchhike on the Navajo Nation, and this was how Christine intended to make the journey. Her family never saw her again.
