On November 3, 2014, the body of 21-year-old Demetrius Griffin was discovered in the flooded basement of a vacant house on Detroit's west side. Responding to a tip, officers found Griffin's remains submerged in approximately two to three feet of water. The Detroit Police Underwater Recovery Team retrieved the body, which was visible through a side basement window.
