Joshua Montanez-Rivera, a 19-year-old male of Puerto Rican descent, had only been in the United States for four months when his life was tragically cut short on February 20, 2020, in Detroit, Michigan. He had moved from his native San Juan, Puerto Rico, with the selfless goal of assisting his sister with her newborn baby and saving money to bring his parents to the mainland.
