On December 9, 2023, in Detroit, Michigan, 5-year-old Sturlin Minion Jr. tragically lost his life after accidentally shooting himself in the face with an unsecured firearm. The incident occurred in the family's apartment on Greenfield Road, where Sturlin was jumping on his bed and found his mother's loaded gun on a dresser. At the time, he was unsupervised along with his four siblings, aged between 2 months and 8 years.
