In the early hours of a summer morning in Detroit, a dispute at a gas station tragically escalated, ending the life of 32-year-old Desmond Allante Nelson. The incident, which unfolded on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at a BP gas station on West McNichols Road, stemmed from an argument that turned fatal.
Surveillance footage from the gas station captured the events of that morning. At approximately 2:15 a.m., Nelson was involved in an argument with another man.
The situation intensified when a woman, known at the time only as 'Blossom,' was seen on video retrieving a gun from the trunk of a car and handing it to the man arguing with Nelson. This man then allegedly shot Nelson in the chest. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found Desmond Nelson on the ground with a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the location.
Following an investigation, police arrested 34-year-old Ricardo Williams of Detroit on August 9, 2023. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm in connection with Nelson's death. Williams was arraigned on August 12 and remanded to jail. Court proceedings, including a probable cause conference and a preliminary examination, were scheduled for later in August. A judge, after viewing the surveillance footage in court, described it as a clear depiction of premeditated murder. It was also stated that the woman who provided the firearm would face charges as well.
