Do you know who killed William R. Higgins in 1988?
In the early morning hours of November 8, 1988, Yuma police officers were dispatched to a residence at 968 South 1st Avenue following a report of a possible suicide. Upon their arrival at approximately 3:30 a.m., they discovered William Higgins, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Investigators ultimately ruled his death a homicide.
Further investigation revealed that on the preceding evening, November 7th, a loud 'bang' was heard emanating from the residence at about 8:30 p.m. Shortly after the noise, two men were seen leaving the house. One of the individuals was described as a Black male wearing a dark-colored hat. This man was observed leaving the area in a red car with a white top. The second male was seen walking away from the residence, and it is believed he may have lived in the vicinity; however, no description of this individual is available.
The case of William Higgins's death is now considered a cold case, and he is listed as a victim of an unsolved homicide. No arrests have been made, and the identities of the two men seen leaving his home remain unknown.
