On the night of July 31, 2025, Rickie Taylor, 27, a Black male from Long Beach, was shot in the Coolidge Park area near Long Beach Boulevard and Bort Street around 11:15 p.m. Officers found Rickie Taylor with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body; Long Beach Fire Department paramedics took him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
