In the early morning hours of December 17, 2017, a visit to a local bar in Yuma, Arizona, turned fatal for Joseph Benjamin Roosevelt. The 37-year-old man was inside the Maverick Bar on South 4th Avenue when he was shot. First responders arrived at the scene shortly after 12:30 a.m. to find Roosevelt with a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
