On December 12, 2022, the body of 19-year-old Mario Nez was discovered on the side of Interstate 8, near mile marker 65 in Yuma County, Arizona. Nez, who resided in the Phoenix area, had been traveling back home from California with his father, Jose Adan Gallardo, at the time of the incident.
