In the winter of 2017, the life of a young Flint man was tragically cut short. Rashameer Johnson, a 21-year-old Black male, was found deceased on Saturday, February 18, 2017. His body was discovered inside an apartment located at the Riverpark Apartments on the city's north side. The cause of his untimely death was determined to be from a shooting.
Born on January 17, 1996, in Flint, Rashameer was a young man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.
He was known for his love of playing basketball, his passion for singing and rapping, and his knack for telling jokes that would bring laughter to those around him. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and his girlfriend, Ciera. Having attended Flint Community Schools, he had been a part of the local community throughout his life.
The discovery of Rashameer's body prompted an immediate investigation by the Flint Police Department, with assistance from the Michigan State Police. His death was officially ruled a homicide, launching a search for those responsible. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the case grew cold. No suspects were publicly identified, and no arrests were made in connection with his murder.
