Graciela Portillo-Esparza, a 31-year-old mother of four, tragically lost her life on July 20, 2017, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The incident occurred at a mobile home park where Graciela was attempting to de-escalate an argument between her brother, Oscar Portillo, and Zachary Patten. During the altercation, Patten pulled out a gun and fatally shot Graciela. Her family described her as a brave and strong-willed individual who always protected her loved ones.
