In the summer of 2019, the life of 21-year-old Tyrell Antonio Pettway, a Black/African American male, was cut short in a violent encounter in Lansing, Michigan. On August 3rd, Pettway was at the Plush Hair Studio located on the 5100 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when a long-simmering dispute escalated into a fatal shooting.
