In April of 2020, the life of 53-year-old Earnest Griffin of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was brought to a tragic end. His body was discovered in an apartment located on Carrier Creek Boulevard near Emerald, launching a homicide investigation into the circumstances of his death.
The investigation led to the identification and arrest of two suspects, Robert Kelly Jr. and Lamar Hullman.
In December 2021, both men appeared in court and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with Griffin's death. As a result of their pleas, Kelly and Hullman faced a minimum of 25 and a half years in prison. They were scheduled to be sentenced the following month.
