On June 15, 2020, 17-year-old Aquae Keyes, a Black male, was fatally shot on the second floor of the Clarion Inn on Seaway Drive in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. A woman at the hotel called 911 to report the sound of gunshots, leading police to discover Keyes, who had been shot multiple times in the face and chest.

The investigation swiftly led to the arrest of another 17-year-old, Jakari Robertson. Robertson was arraigned on charges of open murder and felony firearm in connection with Keye ...
