In the early morning hours of June 26, 2020, the life of 48-year-old Denver Sherrod Gunn, a Black male from Grand Rapids, Michigan, was tragically cut short. Police responded to a call around 3 a.m. and discovered Gunn on the front porch of a residence on Muskegon Avenue NW, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Neighbors in the area recalled hearing the sound of multiple gunshots echoing through the alley.
Those who knew him remembered Gunn as a kind and friendly individual.
An autopsy was scheduled by the Kent County Medical Examiner's Office to officially determine the cause of death, though it was evident he had been shot. The Grand Rapids Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting death, appealing to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case.
