In the early morning hours of July 26, 2020, a dispute at the Mega Classic Diner in Flint Township, Michigan, turned deadly, claiming the life of 27-year-old Roshawn Antionez Terrell. Terrell, a Black male and devoted father of three, had been called to the restaurant by his sister to help settle a disagreement with another man. The situation escalated tragically, resulting in a quadruple shooting that left Terrell fatally wounded and three other individuals injured.
He was rushed to Hurley Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
An investigation into the shooting led police to apprehend Taj Andrico Jackson II, then 25 years old, at a nearby gas station. Jackson was subsequently charged with open murder for Terrell's death, in addition to three counts of assault with intent to murder and multiple weapons charges. Another man, 30-year-old Dequan Arrimus Sisson, was also charged with carelessly discharging a firearm, as it was believed he fired at Jackson as he fled the scene. Authorities stated that while shots were exchanged outside the diner between Jackson and one of the other victims, Terrell and the other two individuals who were shot were unarmed.
In August of 2022, a Genesee County jury found Taj Andrico Jackson II not guilty of the murder of Roshawn Terrell. He was also acquitted of five counts of felony firearm, two counts of assaulting, resisting, or obstructing police, and four counts of assault with intent to murder. Jackson was, however, convicted on a concealed weapons charge and sentenced to time already served, amounting to 742 days. His defense attorney had argued that Jackson acted in self-defense during the incident.
