In the fall of 2020, a senseless act of violence tragically ended the life of Robert Earl Johnson, a 54-year-old man from Kalamazoo, Michigan. On the night of Friday, October 9th, Johnson was asleep in the presumed safety of his own home on North Church Street. In a devastating turn of events, a bullet penetrated the walls of his residence and struck him as he slept, inflicting a fatal wound.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety launched an immediate investigation into the shooting.
Their efforts quickly led them to a person of interest. Two days after the fatal shooting, on Sunday, authorities were able to locate and apprehend the primary suspect. The individual, a 23-year-old man also from Kalamazoo, was taken into custody in the 2600 block of Airview Boulevard.
Following the apprehension, the suspect faced serious legal consequences for his alleged involvement in Johnson's death. He was arrested on multiple charges, including murder and various weapons-related offenses. The suspect was scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday, October 13th, to formally hear the charges brought against him in connection with the tragic and untimely death of Robert Earl Johnson.
