In the early morning hours of October 24, 2020, the life of 24-year-old Elijah Boyd, a Black male from Benton-Harbor, Michigan, was tragically cut short. Responding to reports of gunfire around 2:30 a.m., officers from the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety arrived in the 500 block of Catalpa Avenue to find Boyd suffering from severe injuries. He was rushed to Spectrum Health Lakeland hospital in St. Joseph, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
