On a spring evening in Inkster, Michigan, the rhythm of a basketball game was shattered by the sudden eruption of gunfire. It was May 24, 2021, and 31-year-old Chris Knox, a Black male, was enjoying a game with three other individuals near the intersection of Rosewood Street and Center Drive. An unidentified assailant abruptly emerged from between the houses, opened fire on the group, and then vanished as quickly as they had appeared.
