In the early morning hours of July 5, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the pre-dawn stillness at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and St. Joseph Street in Lansing, Michigan. Inside one of the vehicles caught in the chaos was 19-year-old Cashad Jerry-Jaheim Pops. Occupants of multiple other vehicles opened fire on the car he was in, striking the young man.
